DESCRIPTION This study-unit involves working on a laboratory-based research project related to food science, analysing the data generated and preparing a presentation and a report with all the findings.

Study-Unit Aims:

The study-unit aims to provide the students with a complete experience on executing a laboratory-based reserach project, analyse the data collected and present the findings in a scientific way.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Outline the complexity of food analysis;
- Select appropriate methods for testing of a particular product;
- Identify methodological limitations;
- Perform analytical tasks;
- Analyse data derived from testing;
- Interpret laboratory results/findings;
- Recommend alternative methods to minimise testing limitations.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Design research in the area of Food Science;
- Improve critical-thinking ability;
- Write and present research/scientific work;
- Advance in technical skills;
- Compile a technical report.
